HP Community,
As we wrap up this week, our students in Strings, 6th Grade Band, Jazz Band, Upper Chorus and 7th & 8th Grade Band performed Wednesday night for family and friends. Led by Mr. Ward, Mr. Merino and Ms. Park, the students did a wonderful job.
Congratulations to Mr. Mark Torrie as he is the recipient of the 2025 NJ Association for Health, PE, Recreation and Dance Mary Jo Young Health Education Teacher of the Year Award for his outstanding contribution to the Profession. His dedication, progressive thinking and hard work at HP and within the Northern Valley has brought this well-deserved recognition.
Please review the below Winter Concert Schedule. We are looking forward to the remaining upcoming performances.
We want to congratulate the members of the Jr. Model UN for representing HP at the Conference at Masters School this past weekend. Each delegate worked hard and used their skills in problem-solving and collaboration. The following students received awards in different categories:
-Josh Dank, Brandon Sim and DiMaggio Pisetsky received Verbal Commendations
-Honorable delegates were Sarah Hahm and Kenneth Bae
-Outstanding delegates were Noah Ahn and Irene Kang
- BEST overall Delegates were Kelly Bae and Dillon Song
Congratulations Spartans. You should be proud of all your hard work!"
In sports news, the Girls Basketball Team won their first away game on Monday against Haworth. Chloe Han showed great defensive skills. Eden Canarick, Sophie Donnelly, Alyssa Criaris, Sammy Finer, and Grace Lynch all scored 4 points. La'Ajah Grayson, Charlotte Forma, Maddie Plescia, Tierney Waldron, Quinn Hutchinson, Paige Radoian, Kami Bird, and Addison Beezer scored 2 points each, and Ayzah Malik had a nice foul shot to make a final score of 37 to 17. The team will play again on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday next week. Go Spartans!
The Boys Basketball Team lost in each of their matchups this week vs Haworth and Old Tappan. The team fought hard on both days but the 3-point shooting success of the opponents was tough to overcome. On Thursday against OT, the Spartans were in a very close game against the reigning champs until the end but could not get the victory. Even though we suffered the loss, there was improvement and growth that could be seen as a group and as individual players. As a team, we are hoping the hard work in practice and game experience thus far will help us earn a victory next week. The boys will be in action next Monday against Norwood (away) and Tuesday against Closter (home). Keep playing hard and good luck next week!
HSA Lunch ordering for January AND February is now open at www.myfooddays.com. Ordering will close on December 18th. You must complete and pay for your order by 6 pm on December 18th, or your order will be cancelled – no exceptions! Please make sure you review orders and that there are no duplicates. We are not able to make any adjustments once orders are placed! All families must also have completed and paid for their 2024-2025 HSA membership to participate in the lunch program. Please note that Panera will be offered on Mondays and Fridays instead of Thursdays!
From the Health Office: Parents/guardians, just a reminder to please keep your child home until they are fever, vomit and/or diarrhea free for 24 hours without medication. Email the nurses at hpnurses@hpsd.org if your child has been diagnosed with any communicable illness (strep, flu, etc.). Thank you for your cooperation.
As the temperatures are dropping, please note that students will be outside for lineup and recess if the temperature is above 32 degrees. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately. Ms. Dell'Aquila places a sign on the door each morning indicating an indoor or outdoor lineup. Please note that we do take into consideration the wind chill factor. Indoor lineup does not begin until 8:25am.
Have a wonderful weekend HP!
